Aircraft
F-4U Corsair
Royal Navy: British version of the early F4U. The wings were clipped to fit the deck heads of British carrier hangar decks. Experience gained with this model led to significant improvements in the next generation and eventual carrier qualification. It was the British who named the F4U the 'Corsair'. USN VMF215. The F4U was produced in a wide variety of markings and schemes before the final all-over 'NAVY' blue was settled on for all US Corsairs.
